Considering Homeschooling

Mission Statement:

The Considering Homeschooling ministry exists to promote Biblical homeschooling as the best way for most Christian families to raise their children in the Lord. We believe Christian homeschooling is child evangelism, with the very souls of children at stake.  Our main endeavor is to reach Christian families while their children are very young, so they will have a firm understanding of the major aspects of Biblical homeschooling and the dangers of public school, before they begin their children’s education.  We also hope to reach those Believers with children already enrolled in public school, with the hopes they will remove their children from that ungodly environment and begin Biblical homeschooling or Christian school.  Besides many more children knowing Jesus, we believe increasing the number of children homeschooled in the Lord will also have a tremendous effect on future families, the church, the country and the world as they go out as salt and light in the name of Jesus.

This is to be accomplished by:

* Contacting potential homeschoolers through Christian media and organizations.

* Encouraging Christian families to start seriously researching Biblical home education, to encourage them to choose materials and methodologies that promote Christian family learning instead of mimicking the peer-driven humanistic world view and devices of public schools.

* Educating Christian families via guest speakers, articles, books, etc

* Introducing them to both new and experienced Christian homeschooling families for support and Godly fellowship by way of monthly meetings, field trips, park days, play days, email, web sites, conferences.

Statement of Faith:

We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible Word of God.  We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension and His personal return in power and glory, and the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3) and the Bible commands parents to raise their own children in the Lord (Proverbs 22:6), and that the Biblical institution for teaching children is the family, not a school (Deuteronomy 11:19) and that children should not be put under the authority of the ungodly (Proverbs 13:20) or have them as peers (1Corinthians 15:33).

Thus, we believe homeschooling is a Biblical command, not a special calling of an elite few.  With the majority of Christian children being schooled in humanistic thought in the public schools, it is no surprise that most of them are not choosing to live for Christ.  We hope to do our part in encouraging those Christians we meet to consider Biblical homeschooling. While some families may have serious issues that prevent them from homeschooling (such as mental illness, severe physical illness, substance addiction, etc.), we believe that most  Christian families can and should make the deep sacrifices needed to homeschool.  Those who cannot homeschool should do all they can to get their children in a Christian school.  Since the current public school system overtly undermines the Christian faith, we do not believe public school is an option for Christians.  Also, we do not believe Christians should participate in  public school sponsored homeschooling programs (such as CHEP and charter schools) as they guide or force Christians to use humanistic curriculum.

We will strive to offer materials, speakers and events to the Considering Homeschooling families that support our Mission Statement and Statement of Faith.
